Our Mountain’s Future Action Plan released

Today, the Tasmanian Government released the Action Plan for Kunanyi / Mount Wellington and Wellington Park.

Kunanyi / Mount Wellington and the Park are deeply valued by Tasmanians and visitors alike, recognised for their natural beauty, cultural significance and strong community connection. The Action Plan builds on the Vision shaped by more than 9,000 Tasmanians who shared what matters most for the future of this special place.

The Action Plan sets out practical steps to deliver that Vision, balancing conservation with opportunity and supporting the Park as a safe, high-quality destination for generations to come.

Developed in consultation with the community, key stakeholders, management bodies and councils, it includes reforms to strengthen governance, such as establishing a new Managing Authority.

These changes will deliver more coordinated management, support sustainable resourcing and enhance visitor experiences while protecting the Park’s unique values.

The release of the Action Plan marks the conclusion of the Our Mountain’s Future review and outlines how we will commit to caring for Wellington Park over the long term. The Tasmanian Government will now turn its attention to implementing the Action Plan.
