Infrastructure Priority List

As part of its infrastructure investment role, Building Tasmania coordinates the Tasmanian Government’s submission of proposals to Infrastructure Australia to be evaluated for potential inclusion on the Infrastructure Priority List. Infrastructure Australia requires that the Tasmanian Government endorses proposals.

The Infrastructure Priority List is a credible pipeline of nationally significant project proposals seeking significant funding from the Australian Government. It incorporates the key stages of project development from:

  • Planning – Stage 1 (early-stage),
  • Planning – Stage 2 (potential investment options) to
  • Delivery – Stage 3 (investment-ready) proposals.

Infrastructure Australia’s Infrastructure Priority List Assessment Framework provides comprehensive information about the assessment process and submission guidelines for proponents. It is designed to help proponents develop high-quality infrastructure proposals and aligns with national, state and territory frameworks.

Tasmanian proponents who have a proposal on the Priority List or who are interested in submitting a proposal to be included in the Tasmanian Government’s submission are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Assessment Framework. Proponents should also contact Building Tasmania who can support them with the process. Enquiries can be submitted online.

The Tasmanian projects on the 2026 Priority List are:

Infrastructure Australia does not fund infrastructure projects itself. Its role is to assess proposals it receives and provide independent advice to the Australian Government about which proposals represent a nationally significant priority and should be considered for investment.

Infrastructure Australia publishes evaluations of Stage 3 proposals. You can view past evaluations to see what business cases the Infrastructure Australia Board has evaluated and the basis for previous decisions.

While inclusion on the Priority List is not a guarantee of Australian Government funding, it is an important and credible pathway to testing a proposal’s merit, demonstrating national significance, and potentially securing funding from the Australian Government.
