Washington State and Tasmania
During a Trade and Investment Mission to the USA in October 2024, Tasmania entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the state of Washington.
Acknowledging the shared challenges and opportunities between our regions, the agreement comprises the three pillars of:
- future energies and clean technology
- maritime and advanced technologies
- innovation, skills, training and workforce development.
The Strategic Cooperation Agreement is the culmination of work between the Department of State Growth and counterparts from Washington State’s Department of Commerce, with representatives from Trade and International Relations taking the lead on delivering initiatives aligned with the three pillars.
This collaboration has also initiated a partnership between the Tasmania Maritime Network and Washington’s Maritime Blue on offshore wind supply chains.
